  • When everything is "mobile" what is a "mobile app"?

When everything is "mobile" what is a "mobile app"?

Mobile.  Mobile mobile mobile.  Mobile is everywhere.  It’s almost funny that everything these days is labeled “mobile” – ubiquitous, you might say – and indeed the whole point behind modern smartphones is the ubiquity of information so that you can make the decisions you need to regardless of where you are.  That dichotomy isn’t lost on web designers and developers, nor is it on app publishers.  Clearly there is an opportunity to seize.  In fact, if you own a mobile experience or have an app/web idea and don’t consider the mobile component of that solution, you’ve likely already lost the battle.  Having a presence that works on mobile devices is now a “table stakes” consideration; don’t bother showing up unless you have a solid plan about supporting mobile.  In this post, we will discuss the concept of the “mobile app” and the types of things you should be thinking of when you build a mobile experience.
